![]() ![]() Screen turned on, the image (mostly) overrides the mirror reflection. It is a mirror, useable as such when you defeat / turnoff the image. There was initial confusion about features, whether it was a mirror with imaging overlay or just a monitor screen with no reflection. My contact at Auto-Vox (in China) quickly presented a 2-camera solution, which will be easy to implement with some circuit boards in my inventory.Īfter months of using it in the minivan, and finding it decent but with some issues, a 2nd kit was procured for the E31, now installed 2022 Oct. When problem was brought when the camera mount was high on the vehicle and I couldn't cover both the road and a parking space. Sidebar: One bugaboo from trying to function as a rear view mirror for both driving and backup, is that the requirements conflict, between looking into the distance and looking down low. Not just a backup camera, it operates full time and is quite useable for driving.Įven better than a legacy rear mirror at night, due to its low-light sensitivity.Īnother perk: Pack in people or bins all the way to the max…you can still see out the back. Missing from the image in the rear view V5pro "mirror" is this photographer's camera, for the reason that we are actually viewing content from the vehicle's rear camera. Originally targeted at the E31 for install 2022 April, instead it got diverted to the minivan for an upcoming trip. I went $$ high end to avoid disappointment due to corner cuts, and selected the Auto-Vox V5 Pro. Some of these had something to do with the rearview mirror. Going thru the research, that is when I rediscovered, became interested in, dedicated backup cameras. I was interested in an upgrade to a larger 7" screen and to get the unit onto the dash, out of the forward view.Ī follow on task was to find a higher resolution backup camera, with known compatibility to the 7" Garmin. This legacy BC-30 system has relatively low resolution and poor contrast, poor light sensitivity. This is shown to illustrate an "external" mounting option, unsecure and crude, that I reject for the E31. The camera is mounted near the top of the vehicle, above the window sprayer. Pic: my red Aerostar minivan, aka Rojostar, with stock mirror and 5" Garmin navigation.Ī Garmin BC-30 backup camera outputs via wireless to the Garmin display. I'm just here to demonstrate the installation into the E31.įyi, there is a paint project in progress. I never paid for the maps up to now.…Just for you my friend(s), I'll proceed with the V5pro into the late e31…a solution that "any idiot" can reproduce. Most likely a few readers know this product already and describe the features and pro's and con's. I'm getting all the maps from a life time Garmin unit update, i simply copy all the files onto the garmin sd card and provide the required license to unlock the map. Im not here to do a battle and hijack people threads That being said if people need help ill try to help if gv2013 still insist with is garmin ranting, i'll simply stop helping people I even had a Kenwood DNX unit, and it was too clumsy to select functions etc. Not even sure i can recover my hacked gcd file, its still on v3.9, i never had an other garmin unit to do the same thing again ? I have an hacked unit who doesnt show the warning message, it was a test to hack the gcd update file, but ive lost any phone functionality, to me its fine. Click to expand. On every thread related to the Garmin unit, he ranted on his dead Garmin unit, for the other threads i have nothing to say, he helped a lot, sadly his radio died, ok thats sad but eventually the ranting has to stop, i have this unit working for years, i dont have any problems, other people have this radio too, im trying to help the best i can, sure this radio is outdated in functionality BUT it still exist and can perform well. ![]()
